The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that $2,473,333 in total has been awarded to grant recipients for the 2016-17 season. Chicago Blackhawks Charities (CBC) granted $1,638,333 to 16 organizations across Chicagoland that share the Blackhawks commitment to child and youth education, health and wellness, and homelessness. Additionally, through the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund, 13 local nonprofits received $835,000 in grants supporting life-changing programs that help low-income children, families and adults move out of poverty toward stabilization and self-sufficiency. This season's grant disbursement marked an 11 percent increase from the 2015-16 season.

The Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, established in 2009, is supported with major funding from Chicago Blackhawks Charities, which is matched at 50 cents on the dollar by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation.

About the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund
The Chicago Blackhawks are proud of their long-standing tradition of helping those in need across Chicagoland. Deepening their commitment, the Blackhawks partnered with the Robert R. McCormick Foundation in 2009 and established the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund.
Through the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, grants are made to local nonprofit organizations making a difference for low-income children, adults and families. These qualified nonprofits provide life-changing programs that offer year-round education and mentoring for children and youth; and provide stable housing for the homeless.
Thanks to the generosity of donors and fans, and the 50 percent match from the McCormick Foundation, those less fortunate in our communities have a chance to improve their lives. With all expenses paid, 100 percent of donations, plus the match, is granted in Chicago and the suburbs. Since inception, 102 grants totaling more than $5,264,000 have been invested.
