Chet Pickard makes 19 saves as the Americans blank the Rockets 2-0 @NHLdotcom

KELOWNA, B.C. - Chet Pickard made 19 saves for the shutout and Adam Hughesman scored the game-winning goal early in the first period as the Tri-City Americans blanked the Kelowna Rockets 2-0 in WHL action Saturday night.

Jason Reese, with his 23rd goal of the season, also scored for Tri-City (47-16-2-2), which led 1-0 after two periods.

Hughesman opened Saturday's scoring just three minutes into the contest by converting a cross-crease Colton Yellow Horn pass, then banging it just inside the left post.

Kelowna (35-24-2-6) was shut out for the third time this season but just the first time on home ice.

The Rockets, who managed just 12 shots through the first two periods, have now lost 13 of their past 18 games,

At the other end, Kris Westblom made 25 stops for the Rockets.
