HAMILTON - Trevor Cheek scored the winner at 16:45 of the third period as the Lake Erie Monsters snapped a three-game slide with a 2-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday in American Hockey League play.
After a scoreless 40 minutes, Joey Hishon opened the scoring for the Monsters (15-15-5) 28 seconds into the third period.
Charles Hudon responded for the Bulldogs (16-15-6) at 7:54.
Lake Erie's Calvin Pickard made 23 saves for the win as Joey MacDonald stopped 27-of-29 shots for Hamilton.
The Monsters went 0 for 3 on the power play while the Bulldogs failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.
