TORONTO -- While the similarities between hockey and auto racing are few, Indy driver James Hinchcliffe identified one right away when he toured the NHL Centennial Fan Arena.

As he explored the 53-foot museum truck, Hinchcliffe was particularly fascinated with the wall featuring the evolution of goaltending masks, from the earliest wire-only ones to more modern-day styles with custom painted designs. The creative paint jobs were something he immediately related to.

So when he got the chance to tour the NHL Centennial Fan Arena museum truck on Thursday, it was a chance for him to learn about teams he never knew existed.

BUFFALO -- The NHL Centennial Fan Arena's stop outside KeyBank Center helped show the top prospects of the 2017 NHL Draft how much Buffalo loves hockey.

The 53-foot truck, filled with pieces of hockey history, is here as part of the NHL Scouting Combine on June 2 and 3. On Friday, the top five prospects in the draft spoke with reporters inside the exhibit before a Q&A and autograph session with fans.

The Centennial Fan Arena, a mobile Hall of Fame consisting of two 53-foot trucks, is a monument to the NHL's deep and vibrant history. Throughout 2017, the Fan Arena, a main pillar of the League's year-long 100-year anniversary, will travel across North America, visiting all 31 NHL markets and other stops along the way.

Chris Asbhy and Scott Wenge, the two drivers responsible for the transport of the Fan Arena, will be checking in regularly with NHL.com along the way to provide updates.

Memorabilia helps fans recall how they came to love hockey

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Tom and Ann Drake don't need much encouragement to drive from Richmond, Virginia to watch the Carolina Hurricanes. So when they heard the NHL Centennial Fan Arena would be in Raleigh, they jumped at the chance get a first-hand look at the some of the NHL's treasured memorabilia.

"I'm a big history buff," Tom said. "I like the old leather, the old Terry Sawchuk glove. Somebody has actually used these skates or scored with this stick."

NHL Centennial Fan Arena stops in New Jersey

Memorabilia, Stanley Cup draw crowd at Devils game

NEWARK, N.J. -- Sean Briscoe of River Vale, New Jersey, considers himself a "New Jersey Devils-holic."

But even Briscoe was amazed with the history, nostalgia, fun and games available at the NHL Centennial Fan Arena, a touring exhibit which made a stop at Championship Plaza outside Prudential Center on Saturday. The exhibit is part of the League's Centennial Celebration.
