Kraken flag short shifts copy

The Seattle Kraken play their first home game Saturday night. To celebrate, special events are happening during the day throughout Seattle. Here is a look at what's planned in Emerald City:

Cammi Granato raised the Kraken flag at the Space Needle. At 605 feet up, the NHL's first female pro scout was flying high Saturday morning, literally.

The Kraken hit the frozen waters in their first-ever Climate Arena morning skate.

Anchor Up at the Armory! The Seattle Center Armory is hosting a pre-game party with a beer garden, food vendors, DJ entertainment by KZOK and a live broadcast of the game for those who watch it there.

Statues around Seattle, like the University of Washington husky statue in front of Alaska Airlines Field and Seattle Mariners statue of Edgar Martínez outside T-Mobile Park, are decked out in Kraken gear.

The Climate Pledge Arena's doors open at 7 p.m. EST. The world's first certified carbon-neutral arena is 740,000 square feet and seats 17,100 hockey fans. The pre-game show is dedicated to everyone, including the fans, who helped bring the franchise to life. Construction workers who helped build Climate Pledge Arena will also be in attendance and honored for their work throughout the pandemic.

Game on.
The Kraken play the Vancouver Canucks at 10 p.m. EST and look to christen their new stadium with a win, but the Canucks have other plans.
