The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated right wing Oliver Bjorkstrand off Injured Reserve and assigned forward Kevin Stenlund to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Bjorkstrand, 24, has tallied 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points with 10 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 36 games this season. He has missed the past 13 contests due to a rib/oblique injury suffered on December 21 vs. New Jersey. At the time of the injury, he led the club in goals (tied), game-winning goals (three, tied), multi-point games (eight) and shots on goal (122), while ranking third in points.
The Herning, Denmark native was selected by Columbus in the third round, 89th overall, at the 2013 NHL Draft. He has registered 56-64-120 and 33 penalty minutes in 233 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. During the 2018-19 season, Bjorkstrand notched 23-13-36, eight penalty minutes and was +8 in 77 outings to set a new career high in goals. He has added 3-6-9 in 21 career games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including 2-3-5 in 10 outings in 2019.
