OTTAWA - Casey Cizikas had a goal and an assist in the third period Monday as the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors downed the Ottawa 67's 5-3 in Game 7 of their Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference semifinal.
Cizikas assisted on the winner by Devante Smith-Pelly at 8:41 of the third and then provided some insurance by scoring with less than two minutes to play after the 67's had pulled to within one.
Jordan Mayer, Kelly Geoffrey and Gregg Sutch also scored for the Majors, who will face the Barrie Colts in the East Final starting Wednesday.
Cody Lindsay, Thomas Nesbitt and Ryan Martindale scored for Ottawa, which led the series 3-2 but were unable to close things out.
"It's an awesome felling but we haven't won anything yet," said Sutch, who missed a big chunk of the season with injuries.
"It's been a long season and I've had some really bad luck, so it's time for some good luck. I feel like I deserve it but I'm going to earn it as well."
The Majors led 2-0 after the first, but the 67's fought back to tie the game at two heading into the third period. The Majors took a 4-2 lead nearing the halfway point of the period, but Martindale scored on a delayed penalty call to the Majors.
Cizikas put the series away with a rebound goal at 18:32 to dash the hopes of the 67's and the 5,893 in attendance.
