CALGARY - Carson McMillan scored with 26.3 seconds left in the third period to lead the Calgary to a wild 6-5 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in Western Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.
Ian Schultz had three goals for the Hitmen (25-12-1-2), who built up a 2-0 lead in the first period before the Wheat Kings rallied for five unanswered goals. Kyle Bortis and Brandon Kozun then replied with third-period goals for Calgary before Schultz completed his hat trick to tie the game and set the stage for McMillan's last minute heroics. Bostjan Golicic assisted on all three of Schultz's goals.
Matt Calvert scored twice and added an assist for the Wheat Kings (23-12-0-1), while Tyler Dittmer and Matt Lowry each had a goal and two helpers. Defenceman Nathan Green rounded out the scoring for Brandon.
Calgary netminder Dan Spence stopped 22 shots to improve his record to 13-6-3, while Brandon goalie Joe Caligiuri made 23 saves in a losing cause.
