Carruth makes 25 saves to lead the Winterhawks over the Thunderbirds 4-0 @NHLdotcom

KENT, Wash. - Mac Carruth made 25 saves, earning first star of the game, as the Portland Winterhawks blanked the host Seattle Thunderbirds 4-0 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Troy Rutkowski had a goal and an assist for the Winterhawks (29-12-3) while Ty Rattie, Oliver Gabriel and Marcel Noebels added the others.

Calvin Pickard stopped 48 shots in the loss, which was the Thunderbirds (16-23-1) sixth straight.

Portland went 1 for 8 on the power play as Seattle failed to score on four opportunities with the man advantage.
