MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Casey Cizikas scored once and added an assist and goaltender Chris Carrozzi registered his second shutout of the season as the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors blanked the Niagara IceDogs 4-0 on Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
Cizikas scored his fourth goal of the season on a Mississauga power play late in the second period and he helped set up Cameron Gaunce for the defenceman's first goal of the season with less than two minutes remaining in the opening period.
Ryan Lopes and Corey Bureau scored the other goals for the Majors (7-3-0). Lopes scored his third goal of the season while killing a penalty in the second period, giving the Majors a 2-0 lead.
"That gave us a little insurance," said Lopes. "When you're killing penalties, your chances of scoring are much slimmer and that's why I think it meant so much for us. We were able to attack a lot better after that and put pressure on them."
Carrozzi, who blanked the Peterborough Petes 2-0 a week earlier, stopped 22 shots by the IceDogs (3-5-3) and trimmed his league-leading goals-against average to 1.57.
