At 19:46 of the second period in the Hurricanes/Islanders game, the Referees determined that New York's Devon Toews used a distinct kicking motion to propel the puck into the Carolina net. The Situation Room supported the Referees' call on the ice. According to Rule 49.2, "A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who uses a distinct kicking motion to propel the puck into the net." No goal New York.
