James Reimer, Petr Mrazek, and Brett Pesce will each be out indefinitely for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Each was injured in a 6-3 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Reimer made one save before being replaced at 6:10 of the first period by Mrazek, who made 14 saves on 15 shots before leaving 11:19 into in the second period. Pesce, a defenseman, left at 13:36 of the second period with a shoulder injury.
"I don't have updates on how long they will be out," Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said Monday. "Obviously, nobody is short term. So longer term for all of them."
David Ayres, a 42-year-old emergency backup goalie, made eight saves on 10 shots in 28:41 and got the win for the Hurricanes against the Maple Leafs. Carolina recalled goalies Alex Nedeljkovic and Anton Forsberg from Charlotte of the American Hockey League on Sunday.
Nedeljkovic is 15-10-2 with a 2.51 GAA, .905 save percentage and four shutouts in 28 AHL games this season; Forsberg is 15-9-2 with a 2.95 GAA and .905 save percentage in 27 games.
"Goalies are insurance," Brind'Amour said. "We felt great coming into camp that we had too many. Suddenly now, we have just the right amount. We feel really good about both of them. I'm sure they will both see action. We're real confident in both of these guys."
Reimer is 14-6-2 with a 2.66 GAA, .914 save percentage and three shutouts in 25 games (23 starts) this season; Mrazek is 20-16-2 with a 2.71 goals-against average, .904 save percentage and three shutouts in 39 games (37 starts).
Pesce has 18 points (four goals, 14 assists) and 91 blocks in 61 games this season.
"It's a shoulder issue, he's had it before," Brind'Amour said. "He's getting evaluated again today and we will see from there. … It couldn't be worse. We were able to get through half a game (without him), so that's positive. Those guys dug in and found a way to shut down a pretty good offensive team for a short term. We've got a hole there."
The Hurricanes (34-20-6), who host the Dallas Stars on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; FS-CR, FS-SW, NHL.TV), are tied with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.
