Eddie Lack 1-3-17

Carolina Hurricanes goalie Eddie Lack was diagnosed with a concussion Tuesday.

Lack, 28, hasn't appeared in a game since Nov. 10 and was placed on injured reserve with a concussion Nov. 21. He was activated from IR on Dec. 21 but the Hurricanes said he was sick before their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on Dec. 31, leading to equipment manager
Jorge Alves signing a professional tryout contract
in an emergency situation to back up starter Cam Ward. Alves played the final 7.6 seconds of a 3-1 loss.
In five games (four starts), Lack is 1-2-1 with a 3.79 goals-against average and .856 save percentage.
Goalie Daniel Altshuller was recalled from Charlotte of the American Hockey League and will back up Ward when the Hurricanes play the New Jersey Devils at PNC Arena on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; FS-SE, MSG+, NHL.TV). A third-round pick (No. 69) of the Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL Draft, Altshuller is 1-2-0 with a 3.44 GAA and .884 save percentage in five games with Charlotte and has a 1.68 GAA in seven games with Florida of the ECHL.
