OTTAWA - Jon Carnevale and Ryan Martindale each scored twice Friday night as the Ottawa 67's won for just the second time in their past 11 games, beating the Brampton Battalion 7-4 in Ontario Hockey League action.
The 67's trailed 3-1 nearing the midway point of the game but managed to fight back and send the game into the third period tied 4-4.
Brian Birkoff scored his first of the season early in the third and that turned out to be the game winner. Carnevale and Martindale then added some insurance with their second each.
Thomas Nesbitt and Tyler Toffoli also scored for the 67's (4-9-3), who snapped a two-game losing streak. Goaltender Chris Perugini made 22 saves.
Sean Jones and Matt MacLeod scored twice each for the Battalion (5-8-2) and Patrick Killeen made 24 saves in the loss.
"Once we started not turning the puck over in the neutral zone and just started chipping it in and making their D work, it worked a lot better," said 67's coach Chris Byrne.
"The fourth goal was like that, Carnevale's (first) goal was like that, and when we didn't every puck we turned over was in our net."
