Caria's one goal, two assists lift Plymouth past Saginaw 4-3

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Matt Caria had a goal and two assists to lead the Plymouth Whalers to a 4-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Patrick Lee added a goal and an assist for the Whalers (16-15-4-0), who got a 46-save performance from goaltender Matt Hackett, helping his case to wrest the No. 1 job from signed Nashville Predators prospect Jeremy Smith.

Plymouth captain Chris Terry and AJ Jenks scored the other goals for Plymouth.

Tyler Murovich, Chris Chappell and Jakub Svoboda tallied for Saginaw (20-12-0-2) and Edward Pasquale, who has started every game for the Spirit this season and played all but 41 minutes overall, made 28 saves in a losing cause.

Both teams were kept in check on the power play as Plymouth was 0-for-4 and the Spirit were 0-for-5.

Michal Jordan (world junior championship) and Tyler Seguin (World Hockey Challenge) were not in the Whalers' lineup.
