Caria, Lyall each score twice as Sault Ste. Marie routs Sudbury 8-3 @NHLdotcom

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Matt Caria and Matthew Lyall each scored twice as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds trounced the Sudbury Wolves 8-3 on Wednesday night in the Ontario Hockey League.

Caria and Lyall both scored during a four-goal first-period outburst as the Greyhounds (8-6-1-0) improved to 2-1 on their current five-game homestand. Sault Ste. Marie will close it out with games Friday against Erie and Sunday against Kingston.

Simon Fischhaber and James Livingston each had a goal and an assist in the victory, while Michael Fine and Jake Carrick added singles.

Brett Thompson, Gerome Giudice and John McFarland replied for the Wolves (6-5-1-1).

Cody St. Jacques stopped 17 shots to earn the win for Sault Ste. Marie.

Sudbury starting netminder Andrew Loverock was pulled 12:46 into the first period after allowing goals on the first three shots he faced. Alain Valiquette replaced him and made 15 saves.
