Caputi gets hat trick as IceDogs avoid elimination with 8-3 win over Generals @NHLdotcom

OSHAWA, Ont. - Luca Caputi scored three times and Sebastian Dahm made 41 saves as the Niagara IceDogs staved off elimination with an 8-3 win over the Oshawa Generals Friday.

The Generals still lead the Eastern Conference semifinal 3-2 with Game 6 of the series in St. Catharines Sunday afternoon.

Jordan Foreman opened the scoring and finished with two goals and two assists for the IceDogs, while Michael Swift had a goal and three helpers. Caputi also picked up an assist for a four-point night.

Generals goalie Michael Neuvirth left the game with an apparent leg injury after Caputi scored a short-handed goal 7:10 into the second period, making the score 5-3.

Daryl Borden allowed three goals on eight shots in relief, including both on the only two shots he faced in the third period.

Stefan Legein and Chris DeSousa scored the other IceDogs goals.

Kevin Baker scored twice for the Generals, while Jonathan Sciacca had the other Oshawa goal.

The IceDogs were 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Generals failed to score on five opportunities.
