BRAMPTON, Ont. - Brampton Battalion captain Sam Carrick scored a pair of power-play goals, including a tiebreaker at 12:40 of the third period as the Battalion edged the Barrie Colts 4-3 on Friday evening in the Ontario Hockey League.
Brandon Robinson?s second career OHL tally at 13:41 proved to be the winner.
The Battalion jumped out to an early 1-0 lead at 8:03 of the first period when Philip Lane cut to the net from the wing and lifted a shot past Mathias Niederberger. Carrick?s first of the evening less than two minutes into the second period gave the home side a 2-0 advantage before Barrie's Gregg Sutch trimmed the deficit to one with a man advantage goal of his own.
Zach Hall and Mark Scheifele scoring 57 apart in the third period to give the Colts a 3-2 lead before the Battalion responded with Carrick's second and Robinson's winner.
?We have a good rivalry with this team,? said Carrick. "We had a bit of trouble in the third period but we were able to get our offence going again.?
Niederberger stopped 31 of 35 shots for Barrie (6-6-1). Matej Machovsky made 24 saves for Brampton (8-4-2).
Barrie went 1-for-5 on the power play while Brampton scored on two of their seven opportunities with the man advantage.
