ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -The Washington Capitals still aren't sure when Alex Ovechkin will be back in the lineup.
General manager George McPhee has spoken to the NHL's reigning MVP on the telephone but does not have an updated timetable on Ovechkin's possible return.
Ovechkin left the area Monday to go to Russia to visit his ailing grandfather and missed Tuesday night's shootout victory over Nashville. The team's next game is Saturday at Buffalo.
The Capitals did get some good news Thursday: Defenseman Tom Poti returned to practice after sitting out two weeks with a groin injury.
