Caps-Pens on NHL Network highlights busy Thursday @NHLdotcom

One of the best rivalries in the NHL resumes Thursday night, and the NHL Network will have it covered.

The Pittsburgh Penguins, who are off to a 3-0-1 start, will host the 2-0-0 Washington Capitals at the Consol Energy Center at 7 p.m. ET as part of the NHL's 10-game schedule. The game can be seen on the NHL Network in the United States.

Washington is coming off a wild 6-5 shootout victory against Tampa Bay on Monday night. Tomas Vokoun struggled early but redeemed himself late in a 15-save performance. Pittsburgh earned a 4-2 win in its home opener against Florida on Tuesday night.

Two other games have a 7 p.m. ET start -- the New Jersey Devils will host the Los Angeles Kings at Prudential Center, while the New York Islanders face the Tampa Bay Lightning at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The Montreal Canadiens (1-1-0) are also back in the action as they face the Calgary Flames at 7:30 p.m. ET in their home opener at the Bell Centre, a showdown that can be seen on RDS in Canada. Meanwhile, the Ottawa Senators will take on the Colorado Avalanche at Scotiabank Place.

Three more games get under way at 8 p.m. ET. In an exciting showdown in Detroit, the 2-0-0 Red Wings will battle the Vancouver Canucks. Also, the Phoenix Coyotes are the guests for the Nashville Predators' home opener, while the Minnesota Wild host the Edmonton Oilers.

Thirty minutes later, the Winnipeg Jets will play their first road game in 15 years as they face the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. Winnipeg dropped a 5-1 decision to Montreal in its home opener on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars face the St. Louis Blues at the American Airlines Center, also at 8:30 p.m. ET.
