Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov each won a bronze medal following a 3-2 shootout victory over Team Czech Republic. It marks the ninth medal Ovechkin has won at the World Championship (three golds, two silvers, four bronzes). Ovechkin has registered 64 points (35g, 29a) in 83 career games at the World Championship.
Kuznetsov (2g, 4a) and Orlov (2g, 4a) each led all Capitals participating in the tournament in points, while Jakub Vrana (Czech Republic) led all Capitals with four goals.
