Forward Andre Burakovsky will remain with the Washington Capitals and not be released to play for Sweden at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, the Capitals announced Monday.

Burakovsky is tied for fifth among rookies in assists (nine) and points (13) in 26 games for the Capitals in his first professional season. The 19-year-old was the 23rd pick of the 2013 NHL Draft.

Burakovsky helped Sweden win the silver medal at the 2014 WJC. He was second on the team with three goals and third with seven points.
