The Washington Capitals officially unveiled a third jersey Thursday that they will wear in 15 home games this season, beginning Dec. 16 against the Ottawa Senators.

The jersey closely resembles the original Capitals jersey worn from their inception in 1974-75 through the 1994-95 season, with red as its primary color and the original Capitals lettering on the front with six stars above it and five stars beneath the numbers on each sleeve. Red helmets and blue pants will complement the jerseys.

The jersey replaces the white third jersey the Capitals wore from 2011-12 through last season.
