WASHINGTON - The Washington Capitals have re-signed forward Tomas Fleischmann to a US$1.45-million, two-year contract.

The 23-year-old Czech native would have been a restricted free agent at season's end. He carried 21 points (6-15) in 53 games into Wednesday night's game with Atlanta, his first full season in the NHL.

He's earning $495,000 this year and will make $725,000 in each of the next two seasons.

Fleischmann had eight points (4-4) in 29 games with the Caps last season while putting up 51 points (22-29) in 45 games with Hershey of the AHL.
