Capitals re-sign defenseman Jurcina @NHL

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -The Washington Capitals re-signed defenseman Milan Jurcina to a two-year contract Friday.

Jurcina, 24, was acquired from Boston in February and was a plus-5 in 30 games after the trade. He scored two goals and had nine assists with the Capitals.

The native of Slovakia has played in 91 games over two NHL seasons with the Bruins and Capitals.

He was an eighth-round pick by Boston in the 2001 draft. He also represented Slovakia at the 2006 Olympics and the past two world championships.
