Holtby denies Kucherov a year after sly tally

Braden Holtby finally got his revenge.

The Washington Capitals goalie was staring down Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov at the 2019 Honda NHL All Star Game on Saturday. It was very much like a scene from the 2018 game, but this time with a different outcome.
Holtby, who has been succeptable to Kucherov's trickery in the past, including at last year's event, was able to safely bat away a nifty popped-up shot attempt with his blocker.
And that wasn't even the wildest save Holtby made on the day.

MET@ATL: Holtby uses poke check, twirls stick around

After poke-checking a puck away from Buffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner, Holtby scrambled to his feet, but his stick didn't cooperate at first.
Like a baton-twirler leading a parade or a rock star flipping his guitar around, the Metropolitan Division goalie saw his stick orbit his own body only to end up under his left armpit.
Holtby somehow got his glove hand up as Sabres forward Jack Eichel put a puck on net and quickly go the lumber back in his right, and correct, stick hand.
It is a good thing there are video clips of all this or it might be hard to believe the kind of day Holtby had.
