Capitals assign Aucoin, Osala and Varlamov to AHL @NHLdotcom
The Washington Capitals have assigned forwards Keith Aucoin, Oskar Osala and goaltender Simeon Varlamov to the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Hershey Bears, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. The trio will be available for Hershey's game tonight against Bridgeport and tomorrow against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Aucoin, 30, is an eighth-year pro who stands 5’9”, 180 pounds. He has played in six NHL games this season, including last night’s 5-3 home victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Aucoin had an assist last night and has two assists with the Capitals this season. He has played in 59 career NHL games and has five goals and 12 assists.
The undrafted Aucoin has played in 67 games for Hershey this year and leads the AHL in points (89) and assists (66). He was named the AHL’s player of the month for October and has 522 career AHL points in 502 games.
Osala, 21, is a first-year pro who stands 6’4”, 225 pounds. Last night’s game was the second of his NHL career and his first since he made his NHL debut on Dec. 10 against Boston.
