Canucks trade Hordichuk to Panthers for Peters @NHLdotcom

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - The Vancouver Canucks acquired Andrew Peters from the Florida Panthers for veteran forward Darcy Hordichuk on Wednesday.

Hordichuk has 33 points and 998 penalty minutes in 431 NHL games with five teams, including 60 games with Florida over parts of the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.

The 30-year-old was entering the final season of a three-year, $2.325-million contract with the Canucks. He did not play in last postseason and lost his fourth-line job this preseason.

Peters, who at 6-foot-4 and 247 pounds has three inches and almost 40 pounds on Hordichuk, has seven points and 650 penalty minutes in 229 NHL games with Buffalo and New Jersey.

The 30-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Devils last season, but spent most of it in the AHL and was bought out. He then signed a two-way contract in Florida.
