Canucks take opener of home-and-home vs. Oilers @NHLdotcom

Second-period goals by Nick Bonino and Alexander Edler in a span of less than five minutes helped the Vancouver Canucks to a preseason win against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place in the first of a home-and-home series.

Bonino took a feed from Edler and tied the game by scoring a shorthanded goal at 10:49. Edler converted a pass from Nick Jensen past Viktor Fasth at 14:57.

Eddie Lack made 21 saves for the Canucks, allowing a first-period goal to Teddy Purcell. Fasth stopped 21 shots.

The teams play again Saturday night in Vancouver.
