Canucks re-sign defenseman O'Brien @NHLdotcom

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed defenseman Shane O'Brien to a one-year, $1.6 million contract.

The Canucks also re-signed fourth-line forwards Tanner Glass and Alexandre Bolduc on Monday, and signed unrestricted free agent goaltender Tyler Weiman.

O'Brien, a restricted free agent, accepted the qualifying offer extended by the team in order to retain his rights, but declined to exercise his own rights to arbitration. The 26-year-old had eight points and a plus-15 rating in 65 games last season. He was kept away from the team for a short period after showing up late for practice and gaining too much weight during the Olympics.

The Canucks now have nine defensemen with NHL experienced under contract, including six making more than $3 million next season.
