The Vancouver Canucks on Thursday signed restricted free agent forward Mike Duco.
Duco, acquired from the Florida Panthers on Saturday in exchange for the rights to Russian wing Sergei Shirokov, had 10 penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating in two games with Florida last season. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound right wing is known for his willingness to stick up for teammates.

Terms of the contract were not revealed.
The 24-year-old native of Toronto spent most of the 2009-10 season with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, producing 9 goals, 19 points and 111 penalty minutes in 59 games. In 12 career NHL games, Duco has 0 points and 60 penalty minutes.
