The Vancouver Canucks
won't have to wait long to start a new streak.
The Canucks had their 17-game unbeaten streak in regulation snapped Thursday night when they lost 1-0 to the Rangers in New York. Hockey fans in the United States can watch them try to start a new streak when they visit Washington in one of six games on Friday's NHL schedule.
The NHL Network will show the game in the United States, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
The Capitals will be looking for a better effort than they put forth in Wednesday's 3-0 loss at Tampa Bay, a defeat that dropped them two points behind the Lightning in the Southeast Division race.
Also at 7, the Detroit Red Wings
visit Columbus in the front end of a home-and-home series. Both teams are coming off losses -- Detroit was beaten 5-4 in Colorado on Monday, while Columbus lost 4-3 to Phoenix on Tuesday.
Three more games get under way at 7:30. Tampa Bay will try to avenge Sunday's loss at New Jersey when the Devils come to the St. Pete Times Forum. New Jersey has been off since stunning the Bolts by scoring five times in the third period.
Ottawa, a 6-4 winner Thursday night on Long Island, comes home for a rare visit from Calgary, a game that can be seen in Canada on RDS. The Flames have been off since a 6-5 shootout loss at Carolina on Tuesday. Also at 7:30, the Flyers try to bounce back after Thursday's 7-5 loss at Boston when they visit Atlanta. The Thrashers have been off since Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to Carolina.
In the final game of the night, Colorado visits Minnesota in a battle of Northwest Division rivals. The Avs come to St. Paul after Wednesday's 4-0 loss at Chicago, while the Wild have had a couple of days off after a 5-1 loss at Nashville on Tuesday.
