Cann makes 47 saves in regulation and shootout, Peterborough beats Oshawa 4-3

OSHAWA, Ont. - Trevor Cann made 42 saves in regulation and five more in a shootout as the Peterborough Petes downed the Oshawa Generals 4-3 Sunday.

Zach Bogosian scored the shootout winner as the Petes scored three times on seven shots.

Pat Daley scored twice in regulation for the Petes (3-0-0-0), who won their third straight game to start the season. Defenceman Jamie Doombosch had the other Peterborough goal.

John Tavares continued his torrid pace for Oshawa, scoring twice and assisting on the other, although he was stopped with a chance to win the game in the shootout. He now has a league-leading seven goals and 13 points in four games.

Dale Mitchell also scored for the Generals (3-0-0-1).

The Generals were 2-for-7 with the man advantage, and the Petes were 1-for-5.

Shots on goal were 45-22 in favour of Oshawa. Mark Packwood was in net for the Generals.
