Canadiens send goalie Christobal Huet to Washington for draft pick @NHLdotcom

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens are counting on rookie goaltender Carey Price to lead them into the playoffs.

The Habs dealt goalie Cristobal Huet to the Washington Capitals on Tuesday for a second-round draft pick in 2009. Huet and Price had split starts in goal this season.

The 32-year-old Huet is earning US$2.75 million and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He's 21-12-6 with a 2.49 goals-against average and .916 save percentage.

Price, 20, is 12-9-3 heading into Tuesday's game against Atlanta. He led AHL Hamilton to the Calder Cup last spring.

Montreal is among the top teams in the Eastern Conference but will have a young goaltending tandem heading into the post-season. The team recalled 22-year-old Jaroslav Halak from the AHL to serve as Price's backup.
