Canadiens say Robert Lang has successful surgery @NHLdotcom

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens say that Robert Lang has had successful surgery to repair the Achilles tendon in his left leg.

Lang suffered the injury on an innocent looking play during a game against Boston on Sunday afternoon, and was operated on later in the evening.

The team hasn't offered a timetable for Lang's return, saying only that he's out indefinitely.

It's a significant loss for the Habs.

The 38-year-old Lang has been a steady performer for the team this season, scoring 18 goals and 39 points in 50 games so far.

He was signed as a free agent over the summer.
