Danault fined for actions in Canadiens game against Panthers

Forward assessed $5,000 for dangerous trip on Ekblad

NEW YORK --Montreal Canadiens forward Phillip Danault has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for a dangerous trip against Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad during NHL Game No. 580 in Florida on Friday, Dec. 28, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 17:32 of the third period. Danault was assessed a minor penalty for roughing.
The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
