Byron suspended three games for charging

NEW YORK -- Montreal Canadiens forward Paul Byron has been suspended for three games, without pay, for charging Florida Panthers defenseman MacKenzie Weegar during NHL Game No. 714 in Montreal on Tuesday, Jan. 15, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 3:36 of the second period. Byron was assessed a minor penalty for charging.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Byron will forfeit $18,817.20. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
