Canadiens battered by injuries at Buffalo @NHLdotcom

Montreal Canadiens players were dropping like flies in the first period of Tuesday's game at Buffalo.

Forward Mike Cammalleri was knocked into the boards and left with what appeared to be an injured shoulder. Max Pacioretty left after being his by a shot from his own defenseman, James Wisniewski.

Center Jeff Halpern left with an undisclosed injury, while rookie defenseman P.K. Subban was hit in the foot by a shot from Buffalo defenseman Jordan Leopold. Despite the injuries, the Canadiens still led 1-0 after one period on a goal by David Desharnais at 5:19.

Subban returned in the second period. The other three did not, leaving the Canadiens with just 15 skaters for the final 40 minutes.
