Joel Armia agreed to a four-year, $13.6 million contract with the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. It has an average annual value of $3.4 million.

The 28-year-old forward, who could have become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday, scored 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 41 regular-season games with the Canadiens this season, and eight points (five goals, three assists) in 21 Stanley Cup Playoff games, helping them reach the Stanley Cup Final.
Selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round (No. 16) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Armia has scored 125 points (62 goals, 63 assists) in 336 regular-season games with the Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets and Sabres, and 15 points (10 goals, five assists) in 44 playoff games.
