Cameron Gaunce propels the Majors to 6-2 victory over the Colts @NHLdotcom

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Defenceman Cameron Gaunce scored a pair of power-play goals in the first period to propel the Mississauga-St. Michael's Majors to a 6-2 triumph over the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League on Sunday afternoon.

The six-foot-one, 203-pound Gaunce staked the Majors to a 2-0 lead by the 16-minute mark of the opening frame and Mississauga (14-12-1-0) never looked back.

Matt Caria, Jesse Messier, Rob Kwiet and Kris Sparre added a goal each for the Majors, who rebounded from a loss in Peterborough Saturday night to win for the seventh time in their last eight games.

It was also Mississauga's fourth win against the Colts (17-11-1-1) this season.

Kyle Clifford and Vladimir Nikiforov scored for Barrie. Nikiforov scored on a penalty shot in the second period after he was hauled down by Gaunce while on a breakaway.

The Majors had 32 shots at Barrie netminder Andrew Perugini. Chris Carrozzi stopped 27 of 29 shots for the Majors.
