KENT, Wash. - Calvin Pickard made 57 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Tri-City Americans 1-0 in Western Hockey League action Friday.
Sena Acolatse scored the only goal of the game with less than a second remaining in the second period to provide Pickard all the offence he needed.
Acolatse tipped in a shot with Seattle on the power play.
Pickard's heroics ended a four-game losing streak for Seattle (2-4-0-0).
The Americans (2-2-0-0) outshot the Seattle 57-20 and failed to score on five power play opportunities.
