FLAMES (3-2-0) at CANUCKS (1-1-1)

10 p.m. ET; SN1, CITY, NHL.TV

The Game

Goaltender Mike Smith will make his sixth straight start to begin the season for the Calgary Flames against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena, despite being pulled the night before.

Smith, 3-2-0 with a 2.71 goals-against average and .929 save percentage, gave up five goals on 22 shots and was replaced by Eddie Lack with 12:02 left to play in a 6-0 loss against the Ottawa Senators on Friday.

Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler will miss 4-6 weeks with a sprained MCL, sustained in the first period of a 4-2 loss against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.

Players to watch

Forward Jaromir Jagr has no points in two games with the Flames after signing a one-year, $1 million contract with Calgary on Oct. 2, but the 45-year-old told coach Glen Gulutzan he is better in the second half of back-to-backs and Gulutzan said Jagr, who had four shots Friday, created the most offense against Ottawa.

Canucks defenseman Christopher Tanev has scored in consecutive games for the first time in his career, and his two goals already matches his total in 53 games last season.
