Flames team scope

The Calgary Flames will try to extend their five-game point streak (4-0-1) when they conclude a five-game road trip at PNC Arena on Sunday. Calgary, which is 7-2-1 this month, holds the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. "Guys are playing hard because they know what's at stake right now," forward Troy Brouwer told the Calgary Sun. "We're trying to put ourselves in a good spot to be in the playoffs, and wins now are obviously going to help. I think in these big games, you're seeing the best out of our team right now."

Hurricanes team scope

Goaltender Eddie Lack will start for the Carolina Hurricanes following a 34-save performance in a 3-0 win against the Ottawa Senators on Friday. It was Lack's second start since Nov. 10 since recovering from a concussion. "He gets a shutout, gets a win," coach Bill Peters said after practice Saturday. "He hasn't played a lot. He deserves to go back." Lack's other win this season came against the Flames, a 4-2 victory on Oct. 20. Carolina will be without left wing Brock McGinn, who sustained an undisclosed injury against the Senators and did not practice Saturday. "I don't think it will be anything long-term, but we will be smart about it," Peters said.
