GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Noah Hanifin and Mark Jankowski each scored two goals, and the Calgary Flames scored three shorthanded goals in a 6-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena on Sunday.

It was the third time the Flames had scored three shorthanded goals in Calgary/Atlanta Flames history. They also did it on March 9, 1991, against the St. Louis Blues and Oct. 17, 1997, against the Colorado Avalanche.
"We're deep and we've got a lot of guys who can put the puck in the net," Flames defenseman Travis Hamonic said. "We're a team that works well as a group when we've got confidence. It comes from game to game and play to play. We see one line get rolling and the one after that wants to follow."

TJ Brodie had a goal and an assist, and Mike Smith made 28 saves for Calgary (14-9-1), which has won four of its past five games.
"We knew we wanted to come out hard for the start and get all four lines going," Brodie said. "We have that kind of depth and to have everybody going, it feels pretty good. We created some turnovers and got to go the other way pretty quickly,"

Clayton Keller scored for Arizona (9-11-2), which has lost four in a row and eight of its past 10 games (2-6-2). Antti Raanta allowed six goals on 26 shots. He was pulled in the third period for Adin Hill, who stopped the only shot he faced.
The Coyotes have given up five shorthanded goals in their past two games after not allowing any in their first 20 games.
"Some guys have got to start playing," Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. "We need some of the high-level guys to play. They've got to be able to play."
Sean Monahan gave the Flames a 1-0 lead at 7:27 of the first period on a one-timer from the left circle off a pass from Johnny Gaudreau from behind the net.
Hanifin gathered a loose puck at the blue line and skated along the left wall before scoring a shorthanded goal on a shot from a sharp angle that deflected off Raanta's stick to make it 2-0 at 16:22.

"If you look at a team like Arizona, they have a ton of shorthanded goals (10), and it just shows if the opportunity is there, you can take it," said Hanifin, whose goals were his first two with Calgary.
Hanifin scored on a power play at 8:34 of the second period to make it 3-0. James Neal had an assist on the play for his 500th NHL point.
"We had a good start and we progressed as the game went on and started playing faster and faster," Hanifin said.
Jankowski extended the lead to 4-0 at 11:25, scoring into an open net at the right post off a cross-crease pass from Brodie.
Brodie scored a shorthanded goal to make it 5-0 at 3:39 of the third period, and Jankowski scored another shorthanded goal 24 seconds later on a backhand from in front to make it 6-0.

"The power play is horrendous. It has really cost us," Tocchet said. "The effort on the power play is not there. This power play is killing us, especially the last five, six games. We've got to rectify it."
Keller scored in the slot off a turnover by Hamonic to make it 6-1 at 13:44. It was his first goal in 12 games.

They said it

"We got contributions throughout the lineup and we ended up with three shorthanded goals, which was unusual, and the penalty kill was good. We've got a good group and like our team." -- Flames coach Bill Peters
"I think we have a group that's maybe lost a little bit of its swagger. It's really difficult to work hard when you're frustrated. I think we sometimes don't work as smart as we need to throughout the game. I don't know what the exact direct answer is to get back on track." -- Coyotes forward Derek Stepan
