The Stanley Cup Playoffs can make for interesting rooting habits which Calgary Flames fan Tony Allen found out Friday.

Allen pledged his allegiance to the Pittsburgh Penguins and offered them the chance to pick his Twitter avatar if they won their game against the Flames' arch rivals, the Edmonton Oilers.

Tweet from @ARegularTony: Dear @penguins, if you'll do #Flames fans a solid, and win tonight, you can pick my profile pic for the next 2 weeks. Sincerely, this guy

After the Penguins defeated the Oilers 3-2 in a shootout, they held the Medicine Hat, Alberta, resident to his word.

The Flames hold the first wild card in the Western Conference but trail the Oilers by one point for the No. 3 spot in the Pacific Division, which further inspired Allen to make the deal with Pittsburgh.

Allen, who rooted for the Penguins before moving to Alberta and has a strong collection of Penguins jerseys, was content with Pittsburgh's offering. He was concerned that Pittsburgh, which will play in Calgary on Monday, would have been more vindictive in choosing his photo.

Tweet from @ARegularTony: I was worried the @penguins were going to give me tickets to Monday's game, then make me take a pic in a Pens jersey. So this is a win.
