Zegras reax

You've seen the Michigan goal, now behold the Michigan pass.

Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras couldn't believe his own eyes that the spectacular move actually worked, judging by his reaction.
He wasn't alone, with fans, former players and even movie star Michael B. Jordan expressing their amazement on social media.
Zegras pulled off the lacrosse-style pass similar to the goal made famous by University of Michigan forward Mike Legg in a 1996 NCAA Tournament game against the University of Minnesota, when Legg picked up the puck with his stick behind the net and wrapped it around into the top corner. Instead of trying to score, Zegras popped the puck up as a lob pass over the left shoulder of Buffalo Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Ducks forward Sonny Milano smacked it into the net.

ANA@BUF: Zegras lobs unreal pass for Milano

It turns out Milano planted the idea in Zegras' head.
"I think (Ducks forward Rickard Rakell) passed it to me below the net and I had some time, so this guy (Milano) was calling for a Michigan so I picked it up and passed it to him, so it was pretty funny how it all worked out," Zegras said.
Zegras said he intended to pass it to Milano the whole time instead of trying to score himself, though he's never had any success in previous attempts.
"I was sold on the pass," Zegras said. "Once I heard him yell 'Michigan' to me, I kind of wanted to get it to him. Like I still can't believe it worked. It's pretty funny. I've tried it a couple times and haven't even come close and for him to whack it out of the air and keep it under the crossbar is pretty incredible."
After the goal, Milano's eighth of the season, he skated into a silent celebration with Zegras.
"He said nothing, I think," Milano said. "He was in shock. I was in shock as well. Actually, not really, I kind of expected it from him. So, zero shock."

Jordan, who starred in the "Creed" sequels and "Black Panther," certainly took notice.

IG screen grab

So did injured Ducks forward Max Jones.

Hockey Hall of Famer and former Ducks forward Teemu Selanne gave the goal a round of applause.

ESPN and TSN broadcaster Ray Ferarro couldn't believe what he had seen.

Esports legend Nasher called Zegras a filithy animal.

Even NHL opponents marveled at the goal.
"We played against each other at World Juniors," Predators forward Philip Tomasino said. "I always kind of see him do that stuff and obviously he has a lot of confidence to pull that off. Maybe hopefully I can pull that off one day as well. That was pretty cool. It was definitely one of the coolest things I've seen.
Said Vegas Golden Knights coach Peter DeBoer: "That's something you see maybe in men's league on Friday nights somewhere, not in the NHL. The kid's obviously special."

Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov scored two lacrosse-style goals during the 2019-20 season.
"It's a pretty cool goal. It's a skill goal, and obviously Zegras is a good player and he can do that," he said. "You're going to see even more of that stuff from him, so it's cool to see that in the league."
