CCM Hockey and some NHL stars are giving hospital workers a much-needed boost in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

CCM announced Wednesday it teamed up with NHL stars like Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin to donate 500,000 surgical masks to hospital workers in Canada battling the coronavirus.

CCM received donations from 24 NHL players, including Crosby, Ovechkin, Patrice Bergeron, John Tavares and Nathan MacKinnon, and some prominent women's players like Kendall Coyne-Schofield and Brianna Decker to order supplies for masks. CCM will distribute the masks to hospital workers across Canada and is hoping to have them made and shipped by April 27.
