Vegas-mayor

Carolyn Goodman showed what being a good sport is all about Wednesday.

The mayor of Las Vegas put on a Washington Capitals jersey at a city council meeting to make good on a Stanley Cup Final wager against Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, D.C.

Because of Washington's five-game Cup Final victory against the Vegas Golden Knights, Goodman was required to wear the Capitals jersey at a public event. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, she also owes Bowser a Vegas-themed goodie basket per the terms of their bet.
Bowser also made sure to playfully rub in her victory, which was clinched when Washington won its first championship with a 4-3 win against Vegas in Game 5 of the Cup Final on June 7.

Goodman may have been on the short end of this wager, but her city enjoyed an unprecedented run of success for an expansion team. This included Goodman's successful bet against Winnipeg mayor Brian Bowman, where he had to wear a Golden Knights jersey in public because of Vegas' five-game series win in the Western Conference Final.
