CLEVELAND - Paul Byron's power-play goal in the first period was the only offence in the game as the Abbotsford Heat defeated the Lake Erie Monsters 1-0 in American Hockey League action Saturday.
Byron's first goal of the season came at 3:31 of the first period. It was Abbotsford's only goal on five power-play chances.
Heat goaltender Leland Irving and Lake Erie netminder Trevor Cann weren't beaten for the remainder of the game.
Leland finished with 19 saves as the Heat improved to 2-0-0.
Cann made 28 saves for the Monsters (0-2-0), who failed to score on six power-play opportunities.
