TORONTO - Byron Froese scored the only goal of the shootout and added another in regulation as the Toronto Marlies edged the Manitoba Moose 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in American Hockey League action.
Froese tied the game at one for the Marlies (2-0-0) with a power-play goal at 5:24 of the second period. Andrew Campbell gave Toronto a lead shortly after with his second of the season.
Ryan Olsen forced extra time after beating Marlies goaltender Garret Sparks at 18:09 of the third period. J.C. Lipon added the other for the Moose (0-1-1).
Sparks turned aside 27 shots for the win in net. Eric Comrie made 39 saves for the Winnipeg Jets' affiliate.
Toronto went 1 for 5 on the power play while Manitoba was scoreless on four chances with the man advantage.
